Bordin Hotel
A good budget choice hotel. The room was clean and came with all I needed like air con, showers etc. Staff are welcoming, and it's in a great location. It lacks any personality but is perfectly fine as a base for a few days. You can buy drinks and snacks in the foyer. As there's not much to see in Udon - booking a hotel with a swimming pool would have been a good idea as I could have just killed time lazing by the pool!! Having said that, there are some fabulous bars and eating places either side of this hotel, including the huge and impressive Sunset next door (great staff, food, live jazz, guitar music and drinks), a Vietnamese noodle place and the exceptional do-not-miss Suang Sawat restaurant. There's a very good night market 10 minutes walk away the other side of Thung Sri Mueang as well. Ubon, from the train station to the bus station is very spread out - it must be about 12 kms, with the hotel at the halfway point. The red (not pink!!) songthaew goes past this hotel from the bus station, and also from near the train station. It's not that far from the airport either - the airport public bus goes within 100m of the hotel. The Tourist Office is worth visiting for transport maps (in Thai) but they will just tell you about Wats to visit. There's very little here in Ubon that I found worth visiting, so it's okay for a few nights - it's mainly a transport hub for this part of Isaan. I'd stay here again.

“I really liked everything. The room with an ensuite bathroom was perfect, and the bed was firm but not too hard. While English is limited, and my Thai is non-existent, communicating wasn’t a problem thanks to Google Translate. The hotel has a coffee shop and two Japanese restaurants attached. It’s just a 3-minute walk to a park where you can join the locals, squirrels, and pigeons in their morning exercises. Behind the park, there’s a night market every evening, offering a delicious selection of mainly Isaan food. A good massage place is just a 1-minute walk away, and there’s excellent, affordable food everywhere. The Vietnamese restaurants tend to have a queue in the mornings, which is a great indication of the food quality. The hotel is located just outside the main center of Ubon, but it’s still close enough to explore the city on foot. Of course, Grab is also an option.”

Everything about this place is wonderful. I stayed here 1 night prior to going into Wat Pah Nanachat Monastery for 5night stay within the lay community and then a further 2 nights when I came out. There is very much appreciated hot water in shower, good air conditioning, quiet room, free drinking water, coffee etc and a kettle, cups in room. Anything extra needed simply ask the fantastic helpful team working in the property. They were very very helpful with all questions and organising taxis as needed. Wonderful restaurant and cafe next door only 1 min walk max. Amazing service and produce cooked and served with love in respect of all meals and drinks which are available for all times of day. Unexpected bonus was the fantastic thai massage (aroma)therapy establishment next to hotel also. If you are coming to Ubon Ratchathani - Book here, look no further.
